Wesley Hill Stage 1
Mount Alexander Shire Council, Castlemaine, 2016
Dale Cohen Architects and Pollen Studio have been engaged by Mount Alexander Shire to undertake detailed design, contract documentation and contract administration for Stage One at the Wesley Hill Recreational Reserve.
Stage One comprised of six (6) Netball Victoria compliant netball courts and a new netball pavilion. Positioned on what was an existing hillside, Pollen were instrumental in leading a landscape focused approach towards the ambitions of the project whilst meeting budget expectations.
Extensive earthworks and large-scale retaining walls were required to deliver the vision set out in the master plan. Three of the new courts are lit, and existing lower courts have been converted into additional car parking as recommended by the master plan.
The Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve is located in McGrath Street, Castlemaine. The site is home to nine sporting clubs that support a combined membership of approximately 1,100 people. The Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve caters for a mix of recreation facilities. It is Council’s vision to build a junior sporting hub at the Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve.
