Sanger Reserve Nature Playspace

Moreland City Council, Coburg North, VIC

Pollen Studio completed the concept design and detailed documentation of Sanger Reserve playspace and surrounding parkland in Coburg North. The park sits within the Merlynston Creek Open Space Corridor. The parkland was identified in Moreland’s Open Space Strategy as fitting location for a natural play space to reference the previous creek environs and in response to the ever-growing demand for natural play spaces throughout the municipality.

Feedback gathered through extensive consultation strongly influenced the requirements for the new playspace.

The playground includes natural play elements that will be incorporating structured mounds creating a greater sense of exploration and height for children. Through consultation it was evident that local residents of all ages were interested in nature and the environment, the playground has a good balance of play equipment and natural play elements such as plantings, logs, boulders, and a diversity of recycled materials.
