Queens Park

Yarra Ranges Shire Council, Healesville, 2017 – 2018

Pollen Studio were invited to develop a detailed design for the replacement of the playspace in Queens Park, Healesville. This project was undertaken in conjunction with the Belgrave South Reserve and Wesburn Park playspace redevelopments. The design intent of the project is to represent the diversty of the community and environment in which this playspace exists within the Yarra Ranges.

Developing upon the previous feasibility and concept plans for the sites, the play spaces incorporate a range of play equipment and ‘nature play’ elements that sit congruously within its local environment. The theme of Queens Park is the theme of the platypus ¬– unique to the existing waterways surrounding the site and reflecting the community’s ideas around local flora, fauna, and habitat.

Following a successful Federal Government funding bid, Queens Park received a major budget boost, bringing it up to a $1million regional playspace. This space is currently in construction documentation and will be completed mid 2019.
