Donath and Dole Lighting Guidelines
City of Darebin, Reservoir, 2017 – 2018
Pollen Studio were engaged by the City of Darebin to undertake a lighting master plan and guidelines exercise for two reserves located in Reservoir – the JC Donath Reserve and IW Dole Reserve. Both reserves currently serve the growing community of Reservoir, and the ambition of the Donath & Dole Lighting Guidelines is to provide a master plan of proposed lighting to facilitate this growth.
The lighting strategy provides a framework for current use of the reserves, future increased night-time use, and aims to create unique night-time experiences throughout the site. It also aims to ensure that a consistent, best practice, practical approach is taken as funding becomes available in the future.
Through the use of sustainable and environmentally-sound lighting technologies, the Donath and Dole master plan and guidelines highlight characteristics and features of the site that enhance and enable safer night-time use of the park by locals.
In collaboration with Buckford Illumination, a series of luminaire types have been explored through night time site visits, and compiled into a lighting palette within the guidelines report.
