Cobram Library

Cobram, Victoria, 2015

Collaborating again with Dale Cohen Architects, we developed sketch concept designs and landscape plans for the entrance to the newly re-furbished Cobram Library in rural Victoria.

The design incorporated an intensive planting design of succulents and native species woven under the meandering canopy of the timber façade. A rubber-paved courtyard extends the internal carpet pattern to provide an external play area adjacent to the children’s book section.

A simple mounded lawn is framed by a low timber-clad concrete seat wall to allow visitors to use the wireless facilities or relax with a book under the canopy of the existing eucalypts. The entry courtyard helps stitch the new building extension into the existing landscape, whilst providing passive activation of the adjacent parkland. Cobram Library_02
